Weaving!
Students learned about the weaving techniques!
1st grade: Created warm and cool color weavings
- learned about warm colors on the color wheel (red, yellow, orange)
- learned about cool colors on the color wheel (purple, blue, green)
- painted one piece of paper with cool colors and the other with warm
colors.
- using the warm colors, they created their loom for weaving (holds the
strips in place)
- cut up the cool colors and wove them into the warm colors.
2nd grade: Yarn Weavings
- learned about the weaving technique through using a kid friendly, plastic
needle point.
- made book mark weavings.
3rd grade: Plate weavings
- learned about the weaving technique through the use of a paper plate.
- starting in the center, students wove a circle onto a paper plate, using
different color yarn.
- once the loom was a complete circle, students designed the rest of the
plate.
4th grade: Jim Dine Heart Weavings
- studied artist Jim Dine (American Pop Artist)
- created a heart design pattern, traced it onto another paper
- painted both papers
- wove both heart design papers into each other.
5th grade: Optical Illusion Weavings
- created optical illusions and traced it onto another paper.
- using only 1/2" for the loom and strips, recreate a weaving optical illusion
