Physical Education Philosophy
The Physical Education program at the Lawton C. Johnson Summit MiddleSchool is totally interrelated with the complete educational process and shouldmake significant and specific contributions toward providing the opportunity and stimulus for maximum personal growth and self-fulfillment, as well as preparing the students to participate in, and contribute positively to, a changing society.
Health Philosophy
The Summit School System is committed to assisting each student in the preparation of a suitable foundation for a responsible adulthood. The role of the school is supportive; it reinforces and supplements the efforts of the home and community indeveloping appropriate health knowledge, attitudes, practices and skills. Optimum development of one’s potential requires making health decision based onaccurate knowledge of physical, mental, emotional and social health. Responsible decision making is the major emphasis of the Health Education Curriculum at every level.
This program encourages students to choose actions that will help develop their full potential and the potential of others, and will help improve the quality of the environment. It seeks to instill a sense of personal responsibility for oneself, others and the surrounding world.
