Summit Board of Education Meeting Dates
Summit Board of Education meetings are an ideal opportunity for the public to see its Board at work, discussing issues and making decisions that set the course for the Summit Public Schools. Board meetings are conducted according to the provisions of the state’s Open Public Meetings Act (Sunshine Law).
Meetings are usually held on a Thursday evening each month, starting at 7pm, in the Summit High School Library/Media Center. At these meetings, the Board formally votes on agenda items. The public is invited to attend the meetings and may address the Board. Towards the beginning of each meeting, public comment to items on the agenda is first solicited. The public may then address the Board regarding any school issue.
- Starting in September 2017, the BOE Meetings will be televised live. (Comcast Channel 964 and Verizon Channel 28)
- Special Public Meetings where official action is taken will be scheduled as needed with proper notices.
- Closed Executive Sessions, with the public excluded for discussion of personnel, legal matters, negotiations, child placements, or any other exception as defined in NJSA 10:4-12, will be authorized as needed by resolution during public meetings or by special notice.
