Summit Public Schools uses an online school registration system called Genesis. This system allows us to reduce waste and quickly process student registrations so we can efficiently provide the services and educational program your child needs.
Please read and choose the school year carefully when completing registration in Genesis.

New Student Registration for 2022-2023 school year
The Summit Public Schools has opened online registration for students who will be entering first grade in September 2022. Parents with students new to Summit Schools will need to create an online account and make an appointment with the school secretary, in the registration portal, to bring in residency verification documents.
Residency verification appointments will be held this March 1st, 2nd & 3rd for Summit residents’ children whose sixth birthday falls before October 1, 2022. Residency verification will take place at the elementary school the child will attend. If a parent is not sure in which elementary school neighborhood they reside, they may find out by calling the Summit Board of Education office at (908) 918-2100, ext. 3104. Appointments are necessary for residency verification. Appointments will be scheduled through the registration portal in order to complete the required paperwork.
All forms that are not part of the online registration must be submitted at the time of your residency verification appointment. There will be an option to import the following residency documents during the online registration process.

Registration for Students NEW to Summit for the 2023-2024 school year
Summit Public Schools will open online registration on Monday, December 19, 2022, for students who will be entering kindergarten or first grade in September 2023. Summit residents whose child’s fifth birthday falls before October 1, 2023, can register for kindergarten and children whose sixth birthday falls before October 1, 2023, can register for first grade. Parents/Guardians with students new to Summit Public Schools will need to register online. Paper registrations are NOT accepted.
If a parent/guardian is not sure which Primary Center or Elementary School their child will attend, please call the Summit Board of Education office at (908) 918-2100 ext. 3104. Appointments are necessary for residency verification. Appointments will be scheduled through the registration portal in order to complete the required paperwork.

Those Selected in the Pre-Kindergarten Lottery for 2023-2024 School Year

The parents/guardians of the first 14 students who were drawn from the Pre-K lottery box will be contacted by the secretaries at the Primary Centers regarding next steps in the registration process. Parents/Guardians of students who are on the wait list will be contacted only if a seat becomes available.
Pre-Kindergarten classes may include both three and four-year-old children at both Jefferson and Wilson Primary Centers. Classes will meet five days per week, Monday through Friday, except for one Friday per month which will be determined at a later date. The morning session is from 9 AM to 11:30 AM and the afternoon session is from 12:30 PM to 3 PM. The tuition is $4,600.00 per year. For those who qualify for reduced lunch according to U.S. government guidelines, tuition will be $1,380.00 per year and for those who qualify for free lunch, tuition will be $460.00 per year. Special education students are included in the Preschool Program as determined by the District Child Study Team.

What information do I need to have ready?
For all registrations, you should be prepared to enter information such as:
- Emergency contacts (up to 3) and their phone numbers
- Allergy information
- Health conditions
- Physician name, address, and phone number
- Dentist name, address, and phone number
The registration process is not complete until you schedule and attend an appointment in person. Once you submit your enrollment, the school secretary will contact you for an appointment. All appointments will be held at the school your child will attend. Please note: ONLY A CUSTODIAL PARENT/LEGAL GUARDIAN can officially enroll a student; therefore, they MUST be present at the registration appointment.
Please bring the following documentation to your scheduled registration appointment:
- Parent/Guardian Identification – Valid Driver’s License, Passport or State ID
- Original or Certified copy of Birth Documentation of the student
- Court Stamped Copy of Custody Documentation, if applicable
- Medical Information – Immunization records and physical forms
