Summit Wellness Symposium
The goal of the Summit Wellness Symposium is to provide an opportunity for the entire community to come together to recognize that Community Health is Everyone’s Responsibility. Aligned with Summit Public Schools' District Goal, the Summit Wellness Symposium will feature a keynote speaker and a menu of breakout sessions for parents/guardians to attend. Each presenter will target their topic towards elementary parents in one breakout session and middle and high school parents in the other. Attendees will leave the event with a toolkit of skills and strategies to support their children’s mental health and wellness. To further engage the community in this event, dinner and babysitting will be provided. Local non-profit organizations and other local agencies will have tables set up in the lobby to offer additional resources and information.

Our students’ mental health struggles is the next pandemic. In a time of divisiveness, child and adolescent mental health diagnosis soar. Many students struggle to find their voice. How can parents, mental health professionals, community partners, school district stakeholders, and students themselves, authentically confront today’s issues to support learning, address intolerance, and enable students to grow and recover from substance, mental health, and other difficulties affecting learning? Why are the action steps for educators and community stakeholders today different, and how can we work together to achieve our most precious goal – connected and authentic student learning in a safe and supported educational community? What 6 steps can you take today to support students?
This fast-paced and dynamic Keynote lecture, delivered by nationally-recognized school law attorney, adjunct law professor, and instructional best practice consultant, John Comegno, Esq. will provide turn-key strategies for stakeholders today to help students achieve their goals, while understanding important legal and instructional boundaries. John’s lectures, part comedy and part law lesson, engage and empower attendees, reminding all stakeholders of the importance of their work and significance of their role, today.
