For a smooth transition into first grade, there are a few skills you might want to reinforce with your child over the summer:
- READ, READ, READ! After you have read to your child or they have read to you, ask him/her to tell you about the story
- Try to incorporate math into every day conversations (ex: "How many steps are there from the kitchen to your bedroom?")
- Encourage your child to write about what they are doing over the summer
