Supply List
The following lists contain suggested supplies for each grade level. Purchasing the suggested supplies is voluntary.
Suggested School Supplies
first grade
- 3 glue sticks
- 2 marble composition notebooks
- 1 pack of expo markers
- An old sock to be used as a dry-erase eraser
- 1 pack of colored pencils (12 colors)
- 1 box of crayons (no more than 24)
- 1 box of pencils
- 3 pink erasers
- Art smock/old t-shirt with name written clearly on it
- Soft zippered pencil case (not a pencil box)
- Box of tissues
- Lysol wipes for classroom
For a smooth transition into first grade, there are a few skills you might want to reinforce with your child over the summer:
- READ, READ, READ! After you have read to your child or they have read to you, ask him/her to tell you about the story
- Try to incorporate math into every day conversations (ex: "How many steps are there from the kitchen to your bedroom?")
- Encourage your child to write about what they are doing over the summer
second grade
- Box of 24 crayons
- Colored pencils (Crayola Twistables are a convenient choice because they do not need to be sharpened)
- 15 pencils (preferably sharpened)
- 2 hand-held erasers
- Hand-held sharpener
- Children's scissors
- 4 glue sticks
- 4 dry-erase markers
- Sock to be used as a dry-erase eraser
- Zippered pencil bag (not a pencil box)
- Art smock/old t-shirt
- 4 folders with horizontal pockets
- 3 post-it pads size 3"x3" or bigger and lined (the post-its will be collected by the teacher and shared with the class)
- Headphones for computer lab (optional)
- Box of tissues
- Lysol wipes
For a smooth transition from first to second grade, there are a few skills you might want to reinforce over the summer:
- READ, READ, READ! After your child has read aloud to you, ask him/her to retell or summarize what they just read.
- Encourage your child to write in a journal. This reinforces writing skills and also keeps a record of interesting and exciting activities over the summer.
- Study the addition and subtraction facts for "quick recall".
- Most important of all... RELAX AND HAVE FUN!
THIRD GRADE
- 1 package of notebook paper (wide ruled)
- 1 8-pocket folder
- 3 100-sheet marble composition books (wide ruled)
- 12" ruler (inches and centimeters)
- Scissors (labeled with child's name)
- 4 glue sticks
- Colored pencils and/or crayons
- Pencil case
- 10-12 pencils and erasers (Please try to sharpen pencils before school. Also, no mechanical pencils!)
- 1 package of thin dry-erase board markers
- 1 package of regular dry-erase board markers
- 1 manual pencil sharpener (small, for desk use)
- 1 pair of headphones
- 1 box of tissues
- 1 box of Clorox/Lysol wipes
Summer Preparation for Third Grade:
- Know all addition and subtraction facts from 0-20
- Daily reading: Read at least 3 books at your level and try to read at least 20 minutes daily.
- After you finish reading each book, you should be able to answer the following questions:
- Who is the author?
- Who were the main characters?
- What was the setting?
- What was the big problem (conflict) of the entire story?
- How did the big problem get solved (resolution)?
Fourth Grade
- 2-inch three ring binder. Do not purchase oversized or padded binders because they will not fit in the students' desks.
- 8-subject area dividers
- 2 marble composition books
- 3-subject spiral notebook (non-perforated)
- Ruler for 3-ring binder (inches and centimeters)
- Blue, red, or green pen(s) for editing
- Scissors
- Highlighter
- Colored pencils
- Pencils and an eraser - Please no mechanical pencils
- Pencil case to fit in binder
- Dry-erase/Expo markers
- Box of tissues
- Lysol/Clorox wipes
Summer Preparation for Fourth Grade:
- Maintain 20 minutes of daily reading
- Know addition and subtraction facts up to 20
- Know multiplication facts 2-12
Summer Reading:
- Please make sure each student reads at least one chapter book at his/her level.
- Students will be completing a project using this book in the first week of school.
- Students will need to know the title and author and be able to write a summary of the book.
Fifth Grade
- 3-ring loose lead binder (2" or bigger)
- Pencils and erasers
- 3-ring notebook
- Pencil case
- Thin-line magic markers
- Colored pencils
- Colored pen(s) for editing
- 2 70-page composition notebooks, one for science and the other for social studies
- A set of 8 dividers
- 3 2-pocket folders
- Dry-erase markers
- 3 packs of 3X3 post-its
- Ear buds/headphones for Chromebook
